If there’s any uncertainty surrounding which test your student will shine brighter on, have him or her take the PSAT in October of 10th grade, and the ACT at the end of that year. The PSAT is a more accurate indicator of the SAT, and it is not necessary to take any prep classes prior to taking the PSAT. It is good to keep in mind that all students are different; what works for some may not work for others, but there are always outliers.
